Members of SOPEC

The elected officials of your community continue to represent you through SOPEC, a public service governmental aggregator. As an electricity aggregator, SOPEC has combined the purchasing power of its member communities to provide residents and small businesses in your community with competitive electricity supply rates that meet the goals of the opt-out SOPEC Electric Aggregation Program and have selected AEP Energy to continue as SOPEC’s electricity supply provider.

A new, toll-free SOPEC customer care line with AEP Energy has been created. Please call 1-877-648-1937

Residents and small businesses enrolled in the program are receiving 100% renewable energy supply through AEP Energy’s ECO-Advantage® Program, or otherwise through the purchase Renewable Energy Credits(RECs). at the rate listed below for your respective community. SOPEC customers that are eligible are automatically enrolled in the program unless they elect to opt-out of the program or shop for another energy supplier. Eligible electric accounts enrolled in the utility's standard service offer can opt-in to the aggregation program at no cost anytime throughout the term. In addition, according to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), "If you wish to join the governmental aggregation, talk to your supplier. You will want to find out what the penalties will be for leaving that contract and determine if these are penalties you are willing to accept."

How Do I Know If I’m In The SOPEC Electric Aggregation Program?

Quick Tip: You are enrolled in the SOPEC Electric Aggregation Program if your electric bill shows AEP Energy as the Generation Supplier at the rate listed for your community.

If a Generation Supplier is not listed on your electric bill, you are receiving the regulated Standard Service Offer from the electric utility or another supply product provided by the electric utility.

For our Southeast Ohio communities, the utility is AEP Ohio. For our Southwest Ohio communities, the utility is AES Ohio.
